Wild Turkey® Debuts First Television Advertising Campaign In 157-Year Brand History

Lawrenceburg, KY (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Just like its flavorful bourbon, you can’t rush perfection. So you’ll have to pardon Wild Turkey® if it took 157 years to launch the Bourbon brand’s first-ever television advertising campaign.

Debuting nationally on May 1, the inaugural television commercial, “Give ‘Em The Bird,” advances the brand’s popular ongoing eponymous marketing campaign that launched last year. The humorous spot highlights a newbie bartender’s understandable hesitancy to obey his fellow, seasoned barman’s direction (“Just give ‘em the bird!”) to an intimidating, surly-looking patron. However, it’s soon revealed to the novice drink slinger that “Give ‘Em The Bird ” is innocuous bar slang for serving up a drink of famous Wild Turkey Bourbon.

“Give ‘Em The Bird” will air in both 15- and 30-second versions on nationwide outlets like ESPN, Comedy Central, Spike, TNT, and TBS this Spring in a media flight that will garner 150 million impressions through television. The brand’s ongoing marketing campaign is also supported with print, out-of-home, digital, social media, and public relations.

“Airing this new campaign is another incredible milestone in the storied history of Wild Turkey,” said Jimmy Russell, Master Distiller at Wild Turkey Bourbon and a 58-year distilling veteran. “When Bourbon was first distilled on Wild Turkey Hill here in Kentucky, the most popular form of communication was shouting down the road. Now, after all those years, our brand can reach millions through its first television advertising. I guess some would call that progress.”

In addition to the unveiling of its first-ever television campaign for Wild Turkey, since acquiring the Wild Turkey brand in 2009, Campari America has introduced a series of significant enhancements to the production and packaging of Wild Turkey Bourbon. The far-reaching range of Campari America’s investment includes: the debut of Wild Turkey 81 Bourbon and a portfolio packaging refresh (summer 2011), the $ 50 million expansion of its Distillery to double output (fall 2011), the groundbreaking of a new $ 44 million packaging facility (March, 2012), and the launch of Wild Turkey 81 Rye (March, 2012).

“It is never easy to take a more than 150 year old brand and put it on television for the first time,” said Umberto Luchini, Head of Marketing, Campari America. “I think our ‘Give ‘Em The Bird’ campaign stays true to the Wild Turkey brand, but just as importantly, it stays true to our loyal fans who will absolutely understand the wink and nod humor in the spot, and see this commercial as being Wild Turkey, through and through.”

The spot is directed by Bob Giraldi, whose famed credits include Michael Jackson’s award-winning “Beat It” music video, as well as the famous 1984 Pepsi commercial starring Jackson, which is one of the most-watched ads of all time. The campaign was developed by FLY Communications out of New York, NY.

Bay Area Bahá’ís Turn Spotlight on Iran’s War on Education

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 29, 2012

Bay Area Bahá’ís are turning a spotlight on the Iranian government’s denial of basic human rights to Iran’s largest religious minority with a series of screenings of “Education Under Fire,” a new documentary recounting the struggle of the Iranian Bahá’í community for the right to education.

The 30-minute documentary, co-sponsored by Amnesty International, tells the remarkable and inspiring story of the Bahá’í Institute for Higher Education (BIHE), which was established in 1987 as a decentralized “underground” university program for young people who have been systematically excluded from colleges and universities in Iran solely because of their Bahá’í identity.

“In the Islamic Republic of Iran,” says Rainn Wilson, actor on the popular television series The Office and a member of the Bahá’í Faith, “[my son] Walter couldn’t go to college, he couldn’t be a teacher or a lawyer or a bus driver or a dentist or many other jobs, just because he was raised in the Bahá’í Faith.” (Watch Rainn Wilson’s video promoting Education Under Fire at http://vimeo.com/29493907)

Described by the New York Times as “an elaborate act of communal self-preservation,” the BIHE has offered Bahá’í youth their only means to higher education for the past 25 years. Education Under Fire recounts the trials and victories of the brave volunteer educators and students of the BIHE, who have faced unyielding repression by the Iranian government, including coordinated attacks in May 2011 in which dozens of homes were raided, computers and materials confiscated, and a number of the institution’s professors and administrators detained and imprisoned on trumped up charges.

The documentary will be screened at four Bay Area universities between March 31 and April 6, with each screening to be followed by a lively panel discussion featuring alumni of the BIHE:

Bright Kids NYC Is Expanding Its Tutoring and Test Prep Centers

Bright Kids NYC is tripling in size this year

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 29, 2012

After three years at its 225 Broadway space, Bright Kids NYC is excited to be tripling in size as it expands to a larger space on the 15th floor of the building, with its sights also set on a second permanent office space around Columbus Circle. With this expansion Bright Kids will now be able to serve more students. With about 40,000 students set to take the OLSAT for admissions into NYC’s Gifted and Talented programs in the upcoming year, Bright Kids wants to ensure there is space to accommodate all families looking to prepare for next year’s exams. Additionally, larger classrooms are being built into these spaces to allow for small group tutoring and classroom instruction.

The downtown location at 225 Broadway is a convenient location for families coming from lower and mid-Manhattan, as well as from Brooklyn and Queens. It is easily accessible and blocks from the following subway lines: 1/2/3/4/5/6/R/A/C/E/N/R/J/Z. Additionally, families from New Jersey or Staten Island can easily reach this location through the Staten Island Ferry or Path trains. Those coming from Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, or West Chester should soon have easier travels as well as Bright Kids looks to open a center a block off of Columbus Circle. Families can reach this location from the 1, N, Q, or R subway lines, as well as through a number of bus lines.

Bright Kids offers a number of services within its offices, with its most popular in-office service being its OLSAT Bootcamp. The OLSAT Bootcamp runs from September through January, Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8a-7p. Weekend timeslots often fill quickly, so parents interested in this class time should call in to the office to be added to a waitlist to receive priority registration, or fill out the waitlist form on our website.

In addition to the opening of more small classrooms to accommodate a larger number of 1:1 tutoring sessions, Bright Kids’ new spaces will also contain larger classroom space to allow for small group tutoring, as well as NY State ELA and Math, Regents, or CTP4 test preparation classes. Small group tutoring can provide students homework help or academic enrichment should schools or families like to make this arrangement. Additionally, small group tutoring is available for preparation for NYC’s specialized middle or high school exams, such as the SHSAT, NEST+m, Mark Twain, Upper Lab, or Anderson Middle tests.

Bright Kids prides itself on delivering quality tutoring services and has a proven track record in which 85% of its students score at the 90th percentile or higher upon completion of their tutoring program. This expansion plan is a testament to the relationship that the company has built with the families who work with them. To learn more about Bright Kids or its services, you can reach a representative at 917-539-4575 or visit http://www.brightkidsnyc.com

About Bright Kids NYC: Bright Kids NYC Inc. was founded in New York City to educate parents about standardized tests through workshops and consultations and to prepare young children for such tests through assessments, tutoring, and publications. New Children’s Book Revisits Classic Storyline

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) May 12, 2012

The commonly fabled story of an orphaned animal in search of his mother is a well-recognized one. Yet, like P.D. Eastman’s classic Are You My Mother? (a book which marks the genesis of the fable’s popularity), Daniel E. Thomasson’s new book “The Lion and the Egg” (published by Trafford Publishing) presents thinly veiled morality riffs that will delight readers as they revisit the book throughout their lives.

Thomasson summarizes the book’s plot:

“‘The Lion and the Egg’ is a story about the relationships between a lion and a duckling that hatches from an egg then imprints onto the lion. The lion becomes the parent of the duckling and learns through trial and error how to help the duckling become an adult. Both sad times and happy times occur throughout the story, revealing a true sense of security, insecurity, and friendships between the two animals.”

While Thomasson’s tale pays homage to such writers as Eastman, it was inspired by a modern experience. “At Longleat Safari and Adventure Park in Wiltshire, England, lions are given ostrich eggs to eat for nutrition,” remembers Thomasson. “They would play with the eggs, get tired and fall asleep with the eggs between their paws. Their actions inspired me to write ‘The Lion and the Egg.’”

Featuring vivid illustrations, “The Lion and the Egg” will inspire as well as entertain young readers.

Says Thomasson: “The book is relevant in today’s society because it deals with adversity and diversity within a mixed cultural family setting. The lion represents strength, security, and a single parent, while the duckling represents diversity, insecurity, and children that are different, or adopted within a family of a foreign culture.”

About the Author

Over the past 40 years, Daniel E. Thomasson has taught children Bible stories, music, chess and guitar. He lived in Germany, Japan, England, and around the U.S. from California to Texas and from Maryland to North Carolina. In 1979, he received an Associate of Arts in music and history from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. His Bachelor of Science in creative writing and communications came in 1986 from the University of the State of New York, Albany, New York. He later completed his Master of Divinity in 1989 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, with majors in theology and pastoral management.

Trafford Publishing, an Author Solutions, Inc. author services imprint, was the first publisher in the world to offer an “on-demand publishing service,” and has led the independent publishing revolution since its establishment in 1995. Trafford was also one of the earliest publishers to utilize the Internet for selling books. More than 10,000 authors from over 120 countries have utilized Trafford’s experience for self publishing their books. ‘Unconventional Contemporary’ Design from Napa Valley’s 38 Spatial

Design for future rest area on the Napa Valley Vine Trail

Saint Helena, CA (PRWEB) May 07, 2012

Napa Valley has been likened many a time to “God’s country”: with its low, green mountains, rolling hillsides of vineyard land, and bright hues of yellow mustard springing from the valley floor each winter. So, for an architect concerned with landscape interfaces, bridging the gap between nature and the built environment is irresistible yet daunting in the Napa Valley.

38 Spatial, Inc. has, however, seized the opportunity with finesse. Their signature look typifies the clean, modern lines of contemporary architecture with great reverence to the landscape.

When 38 Spatial was asked to serve as the lead design team for the Napa Valley Vine Trail, it joined the renaissance of ‘public space designed by good architects’. There is a host of young talent increasingly devoted to landscape architecture, in addition to marrying the social good of architecture with non-profit endeavors. Though, there’s none so noteworthy as this team seems to be right now.

With offices in the Napa Valley, the San Francisco Bay Area (San Rafael) and Barcelona, Spain, 38 Spatial is fast becoming one of the leading integrated design firms for residential and commercial commissions on both coasts. This firm is pushing the traditional boundaries and gaining national attention for it.

Take the Napa Valley Vine Trail, for example.

This grass-roots non-profit organization is not your traditional clientele for contemporary architects. But 38 Spatial asked the Napa Valley based Vine Trail, “Is there something you need that we could design?” When the goal is to build a county-wide multi-use recreational trail, it necessitates breaking away from the traditional paradigms of architecture. “Our goal was to create a ‘specific kit of parts’ by using simple forms from the surrounding landscape to expand upon the valley’s iconic context,” says Alexander Barrett, Founding Partner/CEO and real estate broker at 38 Spatial. The ‘kit of parts’ includes everything above ground: rest areas, kiosks, bike racks, and signage.

The design plays on direction and distance, but also an awareness of its social mission. “This is social design at work. It’s about being part of the neighborhood and it’s about responding appropriately to the needs of your community,” says Jackson Butler, architect and partner at 38 Spatial.

Perhaps this fresh approach is possible because this team of young designers has also dethroned the traditional design, bid, build model. “Design, bid, build is antiquated,” claims Barrett. “It sidelines the architect at an early stage, compromises the design, and it’s ultimately more costly for the client.”

What saves the client money is the ability to streamline the process from foundation to finish, or in their words, to fully integrate the practice of Design, Develop, Dwell. “It’s better for the system of architecture,” defends Barrett. 38 Spatial’s clients can execute each commissioned phase under one roof: from the conceptual design, through development, to the interior design, or sale. 38 Spatial is also a licensed real estate firm. So, their ability to offer an array of elective services helps the client to achieve consistency in every phase, to remain on schedule and to maintain a pragmatic budget. “The process allows for seamless collaboration and makes it truly possible for the design concept to come to life,” says Butler.

In fact, 38 Spatial still considers itself a boutique firm. “We like to think of this as a think tank environment. We’re creative fanatics! High concept. High execution,” says Barrett. Unlike traditional architecture firms, Barrett created an open studio environment conducive to this kind of lively exchange of ideas and information with clients.

This seems to be working.

Together, the team at 38 Spatial has been awarded for their contribution to the “10 Best New Homes” by Metropolitan Home. This commission also earned accolades in the Dwell Home Tour and the Palm Springs Modern Tour. 38 Spatial’s Sunset project in Santa Monica was recognized in LA Architect “West Coast Rooms” by Rockport Publishing and the firm’s recent projects: The Loft, Pollen8, and San Anselmo have each earned top accolades. Additionally, the firm’s classic French Oak project served as the backdrop for the Pottery Barn Spring Edition cover shoot.

Beyond new construction, 38 Spatial often takes existing buildings and re-envisions them for their client’s more modern tastes. The firm is currently designing a 7,200 square foot. renovation for a private residence in St. Helena. Barrett conceived of a similar contemporary design solution for his own office space when he brought the vacant shell back to an expression of the building’s truss system.

Barrett tends to lean into these industrial aesthetics. During his classical training at the Pratt Institute in New York, he developed a keen interest in critical regionalism. “Design should have a sensitive regard for function as well as the site,” adds Barrett.

During his formal training, Barrett was among a select few invited to study architecture at the Pratt Institute’s satellite campus in Rome, Italy and Barcelona, Spain. It was here that he became increasingly mindful of how design can be shaped by sound, light, context, materials, technology, craftsmanship, and – of course- the geographical context of a particular site. “Our daily practice is about approaching architecture in a more meaningful manner,” says Barrett.

He founded his first design firm, Progetto Barrett, with this in mind. The firm was established in New York City and invested primarily in designing and building luxury apartments and lofts in Manhattan. His early work provided the seed to attract the talent of acclaimed architects and designers and to expand to what is now 38 Spatial, Inc.

Today this includes the architect Jackson Butler who’s portfolio includes work for GAP, Inc., Pugh + Scarpa, and Frank Gehry and Associates. Butler’s recent work has been sited in a variety of design and architectural publications including Metropolis, Architecture, Interior Design and Metropolitan Home. In 1995, Butler co-founded the notable design firm Hedge Fund Collective in Los Angeles.

38 Spatial brought interior designer David Mast in house last year, adding to its arsenal of young talent. Mast has garnered an impressive portfolio of interior, landscape, and lighting commissions internationally. Most recently he was featured in Dwell Magazine for “Designers We Love” and also recognized for his work by The San Francisco Chronicle and California Home + Design.

How 38 Spatial has risen through the ranks in such a short time must be attributed to tossing conventional wisdom aside. It takes some chutzpah to redefine and defend a place for landscape architecture and encourage the resurgence of first-rate public spaces. Since 2009, we’ve been inspired by their fresh and unconventional contemporary design.

Seems the market has too.

Their contribution is greater, though, than any one site. They’re shifting the paradigm. They’re improving open space – the aesthetics of our common ground – in a benevolent way. That kind of contribution is lasting. It begs the age-old question: is this art or architecture? The folks at 38 Spatial are happy to split the difference.

PIRA Energy Group’s Weekly Oil Market Update for April 23

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 23, 2012

NYC-based PIRA Energy Group reports that European refining margins reached very high levels, and Asian light sweet crude prices will show relative strength. Weekly U.S. commercial oil stocks declined, and Japanese demand trends look softer. The EPA’s new oil and gas sector regulations took the middle ground. Specifically, PIRA’s analysis of last week’s oil market fundamentals has revealed the following:

The largest U.S. crude stock build of the year (for the week ending March 30) came at an inopportune time for oil prices. Risk markets in general are taking a hit from the recent Federal Reserve meeting and fears that Europe is sliding into another debt crisis. Meanwhile, the liquidity injections by Central Banks around the world are working.

European refining margins reach lofty levels. Oil price structure will be supported by refiners coming back from maintenance, continuing non-OPEC supply outages, the impact of sanctions on Iran, the threat of conflict in the Middle East, tighter physical balances in 2H12, and very limited OPEC spare capacity. European margins soared recently to levels not seen since the peaks in the “Golden Age,” partially because of recent softness in prompt crude. Supply-demand fundamentals do not support that level of strength.

Asian light sweet domestic crude prices will continue to show relative strength as utility demand for direct crude burn and low sulfur waxy residue (LSWR) remains heightened over the summer. Refinery margins in Asia are currently good and will continue to be supported by relatively firm middle distillate cracks, a stronger fuel oil crack, and only modest easing in gasoline cracks.

Major petroleum products lead U.S. commercial stocks down again week-on-week. During the week ending April 13, low crude runs and product imports, along with relatively strong demand, led to another substantial decline in the stocks of the four major products. The inventories of both crude oil and other products built, but overall stocks were down week-on-week. For the first time since January, weather- and export-adjusted four-week average demand is running above 2011 levels.

Japanese petroleum produce demand trends soften. For the week ending April 14, finished product stocks built as demand trends have been looking weaker, even beyond the seasonal decline in kerosene demand. PIRA had been expecting softer demand in April and this appears to be playing out. While demand trends will likely continue to ease into early May, rising refinery maintenance should begin to temper stock-building.

Final EPA NSPS/NESHAP regulations find a middle ground for now. On April 18, the EPA released final New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for the oil and gas sectors. In the final rule, the EPA seems to have found a rare middle ground between environmentalists and industry. Government policies that restrict access or raise the costs of production are a key potential constraint to continued growth in the booming U.S. energy production industry. PIRA does not expect oil or gas drilling efforts to be materially affected due to compliance with the new regulations.

In the U.S., Mt. Belvieu LPG prices are being supported by buying ahead of ethylene plants coming back from turnarounds, as well as arbitrage hedging activity. In Europe, pressure is coming from inbound arbitrage, in addition to increased availabilities from West Africa and Algeria. A similar scenario is playing out in the East, where arbitrage cargoes are competing with increasing exports from the Arab Gulf.
